St. Leo’s Little Lions PreSchool is a licensed program designed for 3-5 year olds consisting of two classes, PreSchool for 3-4 year olds and PreKindergarten for 4-5 year olds. The aim of both programs is to build the foundations for success in Kindergarten. It is a nurturing and dynamic learning environment that supports social/emotional and cognitive development. The PreSchool is led by the Director along with one licensed lead teacher and an aide.

    Hours of Operation

    Core Program 8 AM to 3 PM
    The Little Lions students have a separate after school enrichment program from the rest of the St. Leo the Great school student body from 3:00pm - 6:00pm.

    Pre-School

    For admission to PreSchool, students must be 3 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year and completely toilet trained.
    Pre-Kindergarten
    For admission to PreKindergarten, students must be 4 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year and completely toilet trained.
    Once the application is completed, Little Lions Preschool will review the application packet. Families will be notified after the screening is completed.
    In the event the Little Lions Preschool is full, qualified applicants will be placed on the waitlist and notified should a spot become available.
    MATH

    Number sense, spatial awareness, shapes measurement, patterning, classification, logic and reasoning, printing numbers and simple addition and subtraction.

    LANGUAGE ARTS

    Receptive Language(Listening), Expressive Language (Communication), Alphabet knowledge, Printing of upper and lower case letters, reading comprehension. For phonics we use the “Zoo Phonics” Program.

    SOCIAL/EMOTION

    Self-Awareness, Self-Care, Self- Regulation, Attention and Persistence, Safety, Social Relationships and Positive Classroom Behavior.

    SCIENCE

    Investigation and Inquiry, Natural and Earth Science, Physical Science, Technology relating to tools.

    SPANISH

    Numbers, Shapes, Colors and Simple Conversation. Spanish is a stand alone subject and is also integrated into the daily conversation.

    RELIGION

    “God Made the World” Curriculum, God Made Me, Family, Friends and Helpers with Christian Values such as honesty, honor, generosity etc.

    SOCIAL STUDIES

    Culture and Community, Geography, History and a Sense of Time, and Communal Projects.

    MOVEMENT/P.E.

    Stretching, Exercises, Expressive Dancing, and Yoga Positions.

    VISUAL ART

    2D and 3D, Artistic Techniques and use of Multi-media.

    DRAMA

    Utilizes props to create and participate in dramatic play.

    MUSIC

    Rhythm, Tone, Musical Scale, and Instruments.
